This was my first ever time being a 1st Assistant Camera on an indie short! Special thanks to Ritvick and Gerard for trusting me to partake the role. I had such a great experience. There was totally ghosts in Hydro. Anyways...
On a serious note, I haven't had this much fun in a long time. I've always wanted to be more involved with indie shorts, and I'm super grateful to have been given this opportunity. Being an active person on the cinema team really taught me a lot with what it's like to work on set. I learned so much, from the general responsibilities of being a 1st AC all the way up to actually seeing the whole process of creating a short film. I was super grateful to have made really great connections and to work with such great people. I think what stood out the most was how we all really managed to get a lot of work done while also having fun at the same time. It was all fun and jokes, but when we needed to get to work, we did that. Despite waking up super early (5:00 am) to get ready and get to set, I looked forward to it all. It didn't feel like I was going to work, it really just felt like I was having a great time. 12 hour days felt way shorter.
My first experience helped rekindle my inspiration to be a part of the camera crew for many more films. I look forward to creating my own shorts and working with another great team as well. Before all of this, I was a bit swayed away from my passion to create. This helped changed it all and I'm slowly finding my way back into everything. I hope to work with this crew again in the future.
Lastly, I also really enjoyed beating Ritvick in a race. We've been planning this for weeks and it felt good to prove myself worthy hahaha.
